Émergences has been written in 2006, at the request of Marianne Piketty and Pascal Contet, which have first performed it on July 5th, 2006, during the Festival Les Musicales d’Auberive (France), which has commissioned the work.

Commentary of the work by the composer :

 

The title Émergences refers to several aspects of the work. On the one hand, there is the musical style : chords and notes are born on the verge of silence, then grow ; themes or thematic fragments spring forth as if from nowhere ; the violin plays pianissimo under the accordion’s forte – thus making its entrance in a concealed manner, …

 

On the other hand, the subjective perception of the work can suggest either telluric (eruption) or meteorological phenomena, like as much emergences of nature’s manifestations, or the rise of memories or of subconscious forces.
