work has been written at the request of Shlomo Mintz to be the set piece of the International Violin
Competition of Sion (2003). The prize of the best
performance has been attributed to Keisuke Okazaki.
Maestro
Mintz told the composer on this occasion that it was
the first time he noticed that a compulsory piece had been approved unanimously
by the candidates, the Jury and the public.
